‘SEFK’ - Sustainable Education For Kids التعليم المستدام للأطفال

The world is currently dealing with an alarming problem that directly threatens the basic basis of our existence, the climate change issue. Through the years, human actions such as the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, poor waste management, lack of awareness, and many more have resulted in the release of a significant amount of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. As a result, the fundamental equilibrium of the Earth's climate system was disturbed, which had a domino effect with wide-ranging and usually deadly consequences, as we can see today

Our globe is already changing due to the climate change issue, and this has an effect on everything on earth. The fatal consequences of climate change are being seen and experienced around the world, varying from intense heat waves and weather to rising sea levels and harmed ecosystems.

      The proximate cause of climate change is human activity that leads to the release of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere, as was noted above with some instances. I contend that the biggest factor contributing to the climate change catastrophe is people's lack of awareness and knowledge, since I believe that this is what leads to all other human behaviors that contribute to worsen the issue. According to a study conducted by ‘Gallup world poll’ , Egypt was among the countries with the least awareness of the climate issue.  Only 25% of the population in Egypt had a response to the question, "How much do you know about global warming or climate change?" and were knowledgeable about climate change, while the other 75% were unaware of it. (McSweeney, 2016)

       My friend {Alia Amr} and I began a nonprofit organization with the goal of educating people, particularly children and kids, about the climate problem after realizing that people's lack of awareness may be the primary cause of the climate change effect. The organization's name is ‘SEFK’ - Sustainable Education For Kids. The goal of this organization is to educate Egyptian school children about the impacts and implications of climate change as well as how we may lessen these effects by living more sustainably. The organization provides educational programs, which may include engaging seminars, talks, and practical activities to help students better comprehend the concerns. Holding discussions with professionals in the subject of climate change to educate them. Additionally, creating clubs that would motivate students to participate in eco-friendly activities like planting. Also challenges and brainstorming sessions in schools that will inspire students to come out with ideas or initiatives for resolving the issue

    When students and younger generations are more aware of the crisis brought on by climate change, they will behave in a more sustainable way.  Their actions will change for the better, including conserving energy, recycling, managing wastes, utilizing eco-friendly transportation, etc… It is envisaged that these students and younger generations would become passionate advocates of sustainability in the future, as they are more likely to come up with novel approaches and strategies to combat climate change, hopefully  

 

 العالم يواجه حاليًا مشكلة مقلقة تهدد مبدأ وجودنا الأساسي، وهي مشكلة تغير المناخ. على مر السنين، أدت أعمال الإنسان مثل حرق الوقود الأحفوري، واقتلاع الأشجار، وسوء إدارة النفايات، وقلة الوعي، وغيرها الكثير، إلى إطلاق كمية كبيرة من غازات الاحتباس الحراري في الغلاف الجوي. نتيجة لذلك، تم اختلال التوازن الأساسي لنظام المناخ في الأرض، مما تسبب في تبعات واسعة النطاق وعادة مميتة، كما نرى اليوم.

إن كوكبنا يتغير بالفعل بسبب مشكلة تغير المناخ، وهذا له تأثير على كل شيء في الأرض. يتم رؤية وتجربة العواقب القاتلة لتغير المناخ حول العالم، متنوعة من موجات الحرارة الشديدة والظروف الجوية إلى ارتفاع مستويات البحار وتضرر النظم البيئية.

السبب القريب لتغير المناخ هو النشاط البشري الذي يؤدي إلى إطلاق غازات الاحتباس الحراري في الغلاف الجوي، كما تم ذكره في بعض الأمثلة أعلاه. أؤكد أن أكبر عامل يساهم في كارثة تغير المناخ هو قلة وعي الناس ومعرفتهم، حيث أعتقد أن هذا هو ما يؤدي إلى جميع السلوكيات البشرية الأخرى التي تساهم في تفاقم المشكلة. ووفقًا لدراسة أجرتها "مسح غالوب العالمي"، كانت مصر من بين الدول التي تعاني من أقل درجات الوعي بالمسألة. فقط 25% من السكان في مصر أجابوا على السؤال "كم تعرف عن الاحتباس الحراري أو تغير المناخ؟" وكانوا يعرفون بشأن تغير المناخ، بينما كان الـ75% الآخر غير مدرك بها.

بدأت انا وصديقتي (عليا عمر) منظمة غير ربحية بهدف تثقيف الناس، وخاصة الأطفال، حول مشكلة التغير المناخي بعد أن أدركنا أن قلة الوعي لدى الناس قد يكون السبب الرئيسي لتفاقم تأثير التغير المناخي.

 "SEFK"اسم المنظمة أوالتعليم المستدام للأطفال . هدف المنظمة تثقيف أطفال المدارس المصرية حول تأثيرات تغير المناخ ، والتداعيات المترتبة عليه، وكيفية التقليل من هذه التأثيرات من خلال العيش بشكل أكثر استدامة. 

تقدم المنظمة برامج تعليمية، تشمل ندوات مشوقة ومحاضرات وأنشطة عملية لمساعدة الطلاب على فهم المخاوف بشكل أفضل. كما تعقد مناقشات مع المتخصصين في مجال تغير المناخ لتثقيف الطلاب. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تقوم بإنشاء نوادٍ تحفز الطلاب على المشاركة في أنشطة صديقة للبيئة مثل الزراعة. وتنظم أيضًا تحديات وجلسات تفكير استباقية في المدارس تلهم الطلاب للخروج بأفكار أو مبادرات لحل المشكلة.

عندما يكون الطلاب والأجيال الأصغر أكثر وعيًا بالأزمة التي تسببها تغير المناخ، فإنهم يتصرفون بطريقة أكثر استدامة. ستتغير أفعالهم للأفضل، بما في ذلك توفير الطاقة، وإعادة التدوير، وإدارة النفايات، واستخدام وسائل النقل الصديقة للبيئة، وما إلى ذلك… من المتوقع أن يصبح هؤلاء الطلاب والأجيال الأصغر مدافعين متحمسين عن الاستدامة، حيث من المرجح أن يقدموا نهجًا واستراتيجيات جديدة لمكافحة تغير المناخ.
