أوضح جابـر أن المشروع يهدف إلى رفـع كفاءة الوحدات مما يساهم في زيـادة الطاقة المنتجة وتقليل استهـلاك الوقود وكذلك تقليل الانبعاثـات الناتجة عنها مما يؤدى إلى تقليل تكاليف الصيانـة ،
وتبلغ تكلفة المشروع حوالى 12 مليار ين يابانى يتم تمويل المشروع من خلال القروض الرسمية للحكومة اليابانية للمساعدة في التنمية Official Development Assistance Loans "ODA" عن طريق قرض قطاعى ميسر يسدد على مدى (40) عام منهم (10) أعوام سماح.
الجدير بالذكر أن الشركة القابضة لكهرباء مصر وشركات إنتاج الكهرباء التابعة لها قد قامت بالعديد من المفاوضات والدراسات بالاشتراك مع كل من هيئة التعاون الدولى اليابانية JICA ، و شركة مستسوبيشى هيتاشى لأنظمة الطاقة MHPS ، لدراسة جدوى مشروع تطوير عدد (6) تربينات غازية بمحطات شمال القاهرة والعطف وسيدى كرير التابعة لشركات القاهرة ووسط الدلتا وغرب الدلتا للإنتاج على التوالى.
The Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, Eng. Jaber Desouki, witnessed the signing of a contract for the rehabilitation and development project of (2) gas turbines at Cairo North Station between Cairo Electricity Production Company and Japan's Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems in cooperation with JICA
Jaber explained that the project aims to raise the efficiency of the units, which contributes to increasing the energy produced and reduce the consumption of fuel as well as reduce the resulting emissions, which leads to reduce maintenance costs,
The project is funded by the State Development Assistance Assistance (ODA) through a 40-year concessional loan, 10 of which is graceable
It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company and its affiliated electricity production companies have conducted several negotiations and studies in cooperation with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Mitsubishi Company for Power Systems (MHPS) to study the feasibility of developing 6 gas turbines at North Cairo stations Sidi Kerir of Cairo, Central Delta and West Delta producers respectively
