Between 1990 and 2014 the level of environmentally harmful greenhouse gases in Turkey rose rapidly, to 468 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. The Turkish government is resolved to do something about this environmental pollution: it is aiming to reduce its original target for emissions by 2030 by 21 percent – a figure that is to be achieved with the help of the 2021-2030 Action Plan in line with the commitments of the Paris Climate Conference. The plan involves extensive measures and state subsidies in the areas of energy, industry and waste management
