The African Renewable Energy Alliance (AREA), founded in 2009, currently comprises over 1400 members from 90 different countries. AREA was formed to counteract the prevalent trend of climate and energy practitioners from African countries operating in closed environments and allowing only little interaction with external stakeholder groups.
