The winners of 2015's GreenTec Awards have been determined


The gala of the year brought numerous celebrities to the German capitalBerlin, May 29, 2015 – Tonight, Europe’s biggest environmental and business prize has been presented for the eighth time. About 1,000 guests witnessed the glamorous gala featuring extraordinary novelties, proud winners, well-known guests and music acts on stage at Tempodrom Berlin.
The environmental summit of the year brought many celebrities to the capital this year yet again. Guests striding over the green carpet made from 100 percent recycled ECONYL® included The BossHoss (musicians), Nazan Eckes (presenter), Dr Wladimir Klitschko (world heavyweight champion and entrepreneur), Franziska Knuppe(model), David Mayer de Rothschild (ecologist), Nena (singer), Christine Neubauer (actress), Désirée Nosbusch(presenter, actress), and many more. The opening speech was held by Peter Altmaier, Head of the Federal Chancellery and Federal Minister for Special Tasks. The gala was presented by Annemarie Carpendale andMatthias KillingFahrenhaidtGlasperlenspiel and LAING performed on stage. The ceremony was opened with a flash mob of Junges Sinfonieorchester Berlin.


GreenTec Awards initiator Marco Voigt says, “This year’s awards were the biggest and the most challenging ones we have put on so far. We are well on our way to the most important environmental prize worldwide.”



These are the winners of the 2015’s GreenTec Awards:



    Category Automobility: the Multimodal Route Planner by BMW i takes public transportation into account while navigating and also suggests the latter if the driver reaches his destination more quickly that way.



•    Category Construction & Living: Holzschaum – Natural hard foam without fossil oil for insulation and packaging by Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research, Wilhelm-Klauditz-Institute (WKI), which can be used as insulation, packaging, and lightweight construction material.



   Category Energy: Smart Country – Grids for Future Electricity Supply: Pilot Project Eifel by RWE Deutschland AG offers a solution for distribution networks so that regenerative electricity generation can be integrated into the system.



    Category Communication: The BMW i8: On a journey from impossible to possible by BMW Group is a complete campaign for the new BMW i8, the first plug-in-hybrid vehicle of the BMW Group.



    Category Lifestyle: Little Sun – Solar Light for Everyone by LittleSun develops solar-powered lamps in the shape of a sun for regions without energy supply.

    Category Production: QMilk fiber – The fiber made from non-food milk by Qmilch Deutschland GmbH is a natural fiber that is produced from non-food milk with low impact on the climate and natural resources.



   Category Recycling & Resources: “Berliner Pflanze” – Recovery of phosphor from sewage by Berliner Wasserbetriebe uses recovered phosphor from sewage to produce fertilizer.



    Category Travel: LNG Hybrid Barge by Becker Marine Systems provides harboring cruise ships with energy by using the ecofriendly energy carrier “Liquefied Natural Gas” (LNG).



   Category Urbanization: SEMIZENTRAL Germany – Infrastructure solutions for the cities of the future byDarmstadt University of Technology is a supply and disposal concept which grows with a city.



    Category Water & Sewage: Water 3.0 – StressFix by Koblenz-Landau University is a hybrid pebble gel that is able to absorb, chemically transform and bind pharmaceutical residues.



    Category Galileo Wissenspreis: Eco Monsters by Anastasia Bondarenko is an app that teaches environmental consciousness to toddlers.



  Special Award in the category Music: Nena



    Special Award ProSiebenSat.1 Accelerator Startup: Fairphone by Fairphone is a socially and ecologically sustainable cell phone with a transparent supply chain.



   WWF Special Award: The project “Land of Wildcats” by Jagdverein Hubertus Kreis Eschwege e. V. protects the threatened species and its habitats at the rivers Werra and Meißner.



About the GreenTec Awards
The GreenTec Awards are organized to support environmental and economic involvement as well as fascination for technologies. The initiators and organizers Marco Voigt and Sven Krüger enthusiastically support this cause. Ten categories were presented at the GreenTec Awards 2015, Automobility, Construction & Living, Energy, Communication, Lifestyle, Production, Travel, Recycling & Resources, Urbanization, Water & Sewage, as well as four special awards: Galileo Wissenspreis, Music, ProSiebenSat.1 Accelerator Startup, and WWF. More than 100 partners, 50 ambassadors, and 40 exhibitors make the remarkable event happen, which has been carried out as eco-friendly as possible. The next GreenTec Awards will take place on May 29th, 2016 as the opening gala for the IFAT trade fair in Munich
