The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
(EBRD) is considering to support
several companies with long-term loans to install
800 MW PV capacity in Egypt as part of the 1.8 GW »Benban« utility scale solar plant. The EBRD ponders to
finance 17 PV projects
A joint
venture of Infinity for Solar Energy
SAE (Egypt) and IB Vogt GmbH
(Germany) with a long-term senior debt financing of up to $16.2 million
to finance the construction of a 30 MW solar photovoltaic plant. Total
investment is about $43,2 million. Furthermore, the same group could get $27.2 million to finance the
construction of another 50 MW PV plant (total investment $72.5 million)
The Eren
Renewable Energy S.A. (France) and Access Infra Africa (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) with up to $29 million to finance the construction
of the 50 MW »Access/EREN Benban PV I« solar plant. Total
investment is about $77.3 million. The Project is part of a larger portfolio of two 50 MW plants developed in
»Benban« by the same group of
lead sponsors and under the same financial conditions. The second plant is called »Access/EREN Benban PV
II«
The Al
Fanar Company (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) with up to $29 million to finance the
construction of a 50 MW solar
photovoltaic plant. Total investment is about $74 million. The
Project is part of a larger portfolio of two
50 MW plants developed in » Benban« by
the same group of lead sponsors
and under the same financial conditions. The second plant is called »El Sewedy Benban PV«
ACWA
Power International (Saudi Arabia), and Hassan Allam Holding (Egypt) to construct three PV
power plants: »ACWA Benban Solar PV I« (50 MW, financing of $8.6
million, total project cost $77.5
million); »ACWA Benban Solar
PV II« (20 MW, financing of $11 million,
total project cost $29.4 million);
and »ACWA Benban Solar PV III« (50 MW,
financing of $9.1 million, total project cost $80.8 million)
EDF
Energies Nouvelles (France) and El Sewedy Electric (Egypt) with up to $27
million to finance the construction of a 50 MW solar photovoltaic plant called
»EDF EN Benban PV«. Total investment is
about $72 million. The Project
is part of a larger portfolio of two 50 MW plants developed in »Benban« by the same group of lead
sponsors and under the same financial
conditions. The second plant is called »El Sewedy Benban PV«
Norwegian
companies Scatec Solar ASA and Norfund to construct six PV power plants.
The capacity is 50 MW each,
financing could be up to $40.5 million each, and total project investment is about $78.5
million for each facility. The plants are called Scatec
Benban I (»Aswan Solar Project«), Scatec
Benban II (»Kom Ombo Project«), Scatec Benban III (»Sun Infinite Project«), Scatec Benban IV (»Red Sea
Solar Project«), Scatec Benban V (»Zafarana
Solar Project«), and Scatec Benban VI (»Philadelphia Project«)
The plants will be developed under the programme implemented by the Egyptian government offering feed-in
tariffs to projects of up to 50 MW capacity
to stimulate private investment in over 4 GW of wind and solar power
