أصبح صندوق الحرير المملوك للحكومة الصينية يستحوذ على حصة كبيرة من أصول الطاقة المتجددة في الشرق الأوسط بعد استحواذه على 49% من وحدة الطاقة المتجددة بشركة أكوا باور السعودية، وفق ما ذكره بيان للشركة تناوله موقع زاوية ولم يكشف البيان عن التفاصيل المالية للصفقة التي تنتظر الموافقات اللازمة لإتمامها. وتعمل أكوا باور على الاستثمار في إمكانات النمو المتسارعة للطاقة المتجددة في الأسواق الناشئة، وتملك الشركة مشروعات للطاقة الشمسية المركزة والطاقة الشمسية الفوتوضوئية، وطاقة الرياح، في الإمارات وجنوب أفريقيا والأردن ومصر والمغرب، بإجمالي قدرات تبلغ 1668 ميجاوات.
أكوا باور أحد أهم اللاعبين في قطاع الطاقة المتجددة بالمنطقة تعد أكوا باور من الشركات الرائدة في إنتاج الطاقة المتجددة بالمنطقة، وتتولى إنشاء بعض المشروعات الكبرى، مثل مشروع نور للطاقة 1، ومشروع المرحلة الرابعة من مجمع محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم للطاقة الشمسية. وفي نوفمبر من العام الماضي، وقع تحالف أكوا باور وحسن علام مع الشركة المصرية لنقل الكهرباء اتفاقية شراء طاقة لتطوير وبناء وتشغيل محطة غازية لتوليد الكهرباء بنظام الدورة المركبة بمدينة الأقصر بقدرة 2300 ميجاوات وباستثمارات 2.3 مليار دولار، والتي من المنتظر أن تعمل بكامل طاقتها خلال صيف 2023. وفي مايو الماضي، قدمت أكوا باور أقل سعر لبيع الطاقة المنتجة بمناقصة طرحتها الشركة المصرية لنقل الكهرباء لإنشاء محطة طاقة شمسية بقدرة 200 ميجاوات في كوم أمبو بأسوان، وذلك من بين ستة عروض مقدمة. وأعلنت أكوا باور على لسان مديرها الإقليمي حسن علي في مارس الماضي أن الشركة تعتزم استثمار 3 مليارات دولار في مصر، توجه لمشروعاتها في الأقصر وأسوان. يرى بادي باداماناثان الرئيس التنفيذي لأكوا باور أن قطاع المتجددة في مصر بفرص واعدة لديه فرص واعدة مع تراجع التكاليف، حسبما صرح في مقابلة مع تلفزيون بلومبرج في يناير الماضي
