المستدامة. وتعمل الهيئة حاليًا على وضع نظام تصنيف ائتماني واضح لشهادات الكربون،
يشمل معايير دقيقة لضمان جودة المشروعات التي تصدر عنها هذه الشهادات، بهدف تنظيم
سوق الكربون المحلي، وزيادة جاذبيته أمام المستثمرين، عبر رفع مستويات الشفافية
وتعزيز مصداقية مشروعات خفض الانبعاثات الكربونية وفق فريد

The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), in cooperation
with the Egyptian Insurance Federation, plans to launch new insurance products
for the issuance of carbon certificates in the voluntary carbon market,
according to Mohamed Farid, Chairman of the FRA. The
Egyptian Carbon Market is the first voluntary carbon market in Egypt and
Africa, and aims to support the Egyptian government's efforts to achieve carbon
neutrality.
Farid added, in statements to Al Borsa newspaper, that
the new products are currently being studied for launch soon.
The aim is to provide liquidity to farmers through
insurance on carbon certificates to be issued to eligible projects, in addition
to the insurance sector's contribution to reducing carbon emissions.
He pointed out that insurance products for agricultural
projects themselves against potential risks have been launched. He revealed
that the FRA is currently working on several trading deals in the voluntary
carbon market, in addition to developing futures contracts for carbon
certificates.
He emphasized that this step comes within the
framework of efforts to enhance investor and farmer confidence in sustainable
environmental projects. The Authority is currently working on developing a
clear credit rating system for carbon certificates, including precise standards
to ensure the quality of the projects that issue these certificates, with the
aim of regulating the local carbon market and increasing its attractiveness to
investors,
by raising levels of transparency and enhancing the
credibility of carbon emission reduction projects, according to Farid.
