أطلقت وحدة التنمية المحلية بالهيئة القبطية الإنجيلية للخدمات الاجتماعية، عضو التحالف الوطني للعمل الأهلي التنموي، مسابقة «الابتكار من أجل ترشيد المياه»، والتي تهدف إلى تقديم حلول وأفكار مبتكرة قائمة على المجتمعات المحلية.
The Local Development Unit at the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, a member of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work, has launched the “Innovation for Water Conservation” competition. The competition aims to present innovative, community-based solutions and ideas.
This competition comes within the framework of implementing the project “Improving Natural Resources and Water Management,” which is being carried out in four Upper Egypt governorates: Sohag, Minya, Beni Suef, and Fayoum, in partnership with 12 local communities.
The competition activities, held across Upper Egypt governorates, witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of consultants specializing in water management and governance, along with experts and academics representing faculties of engineering and agriculture. It also included representatives from governmental institutions such as the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Ministry of Agriculture, the private sector, as well as civil society organizations partnering within the project’s target communities.
These experts also took part in four judging panels at the governorate level to evaluate the submitted innovations.
More than 20 young men and women participated in the competition, presenting community-based innovations that contribute to rationalizing water consumption. These included models for irrigation water control, ideas for reducing household water consumption, applications based on artificial intelligence technologies, as well as initiatives aimed at raising community awareness about the importance of water conservation.
Additionally, around 300 young men and women participated, on the sidelines of the events, in celebrating World Water Day, which was held under the slogan: “Where water flows, equality grows.”
