The voting is available in English and German and thus enables participants all around the world to choose their favorites among the TOP 10 projects of each category. Votes can be cast on the homepage of the GreenTec Awards, as well as on the websites of ProSieben/Galileo, WirtschaftsWoche Green, and many more partners.
Berlin, November 10, 2014 – The application phase of the GreenTec Awards 2015 has come to an end and the TOP 10 of each of the competition’s categories have been determined. As of now, the public’s opinion counts. Until January 11, 2015, everyone is invited to participate in the online voting and to vote for his or her personal favorites. The projects range from applications from well-established companies like BMW and Siemens to inventions of young, creative heads from universities like Vienna University of Technology or University of Stuttgart. Energy suppliers like RWE and Naturstrom, nonprofit associations, and sustainable hotels are also among the applicants for the GreenTec Awards. The competition’s internationality has increased significantly in recent years: About 30 percent of the applications – twice as much as last year – come for example from Sweden, Italy, Israel, USA, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, South Africa, Singapore, and New Zealand.
Marco Voigt, initiator of the GreenTec Awards, on the online voting: “We are proud of carrying out the biggest global public voting process, in which everybody can participate – regardless of his or her place of residence. Last year alone, we recorded 100.000 registered votes. This year’s goal is to surpass this excellent result. The transparency and fairness of the process is certified by TÜV NORD.”
Votes can be cast online in altogether 13 categories: Automobility, Construction & Living, Energy, Communication, Lifestyle, Production, Recycling & Resources, Travel, Urbanization, Water & Sewage, as well as the special prizes Galileo Wissenspreis, ProSiebenSat1 Accelerator Startup, and WWF. The latter is determined directly and solely by the online voting as an audience award. In all other categories, the winner of the online voting automatically qualifies as one of the three nominees of its category. Out of those, the jury later selects the winner. The top-class jury consists of representatives from the economy, science, politics, and entertainment. The jury members consider the following criteria for their evaluation: degree of innovation of the project, its contribution to the protection of the environment, profitability, long-term fields of application, and potential media attention. The jury meeting will take place on February 25, 2015.
