أكدت د. ياسمين فؤاد وزير البيئة على أهمية الربط بين اتفاقيات ريو لتغير المناخ والتنوع البيولوجي والتصحر حتى نستطيع تحقيق التنمية المستدامة 

 خلال الكلمة التي ألقتها وزيرة البيئة خلال مؤتمر "أسبوع القاهرة الأول للمياه"،  الذى  نظمته وزارة الموارد المائية والري تحت رعاية الرئيس عبدالفتاح السيسي، خلال الفترة من 14 – 18 أكتوبر الجاري، بحضور وكيل الأمين العام للشئون الاقتصادية والاجتماعية بالأمم المتحدة، ورؤساء عدد من الوفود من مختلف الدول، وممثلي المنظمات الدولية والإقليمية بهدف إلقاء الضوء على جهود مصر الدولية لتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة.

  أشارت فؤاد  إلى اهتمام  مصر الكبير بقضية التغيرات المناخية ، حيث كانت من أوائل الدول التي وقعت وصدقت على اتفاقية تغير المناخ عام 1994 وكافة الاتفاقيات المتعلقة بتغير المناخ  آخرها التصديق على اتفاق باريس عام 2017.

 أوضحت وزيرة البيئة أن مصر قامت باتخاذ العديد من الخطوات الخاصة بدراسة تأثيرات تغير المناخ على موارد مصر المائية من خلال تقارير الإبلاغ الوطني واستراتيجية التكيف مع تغير المناخ ، ،كما قامت مصر بوضع خطة طموحة للتعامل مع هذه التأثيرات في تقريرها عن المساهمات المحددة وطنياً التي قدمته في اتفاقية باريس لتغير المناخ 2017.

 تابعت الوزيرة أن مصر لها دور كبير في المفاوضات الخاصة بتغير المناخ ، حيث تمكنت من الحصول على منحة قدرها 31.7 مليون دولار لحماية نهر النيل وجارى العمل على وضع خطة متكاملة للتكيف مع تغير المناخ مطلع العام القادم لضمان التكافل بين الحلول والإجراءات لتحقيق التنمية بشكل مستدام ومرن قادر على مواجهة الأخطار المحتملة مستقبلاً

Environment Minister: Egypt attaches great importance to the issue of climate change serious steps to study the impacts of climate change on Egypt's water resources

Dr Yasmin Fouad Minister of the Environment, focusing on the importance of linking Rio conventions to climate change, biodiversity and desertification so that we can achieve sustainable development.

This came during a speech by the Minister of Environment during the " Cairo First Water Week", organized by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, during the period from 14 to 18 October, in the presence of the Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations.

Delegations from different countries and representatives of international and regional organizations to shed light on Egypt's international efforts to achieve 
the goals of sustainable development.

 Fouad pointed to Egypt's great interest in the issue of climate change. It was one of the first countries to sign and ratify the Climate Change Agreement of 1994 and all the climate change agreements, most recently the ratification of the Paris Agreement of 2017.

Minister of Environment explained that Egypt has taken many steps to study the impacts of climate change on Egypt's water resources through national reporting and climate change adaptation strategies. Egypt has also developed an ambitious plan to address these impacts in its national contributions report via Paris Convention on Climate Change. Egypt has a major role in the climate change negotiations. It has been awarded a grant of $ 31.7 million to protect the Nile River. An integrated climate change adaptation plan is underway to release early next year to ensure synergies between solutions and actions to achieve sustainable and resilient development.
